Building Awareness
We believe in the importance of education in building public awareness.
Since the founding of Prescott Alternative Transportation, outreach has been a primary goal for our organization. We believe in the importance of education in building public awareness, and seek to be accessible to our community in many formats. We communicate with local and regional decision-makers, operate programs, host and attend events, and offer literature and encouragement materials in order to educate central Yavapai County citizens about how and why alternate forms of transportation benefit our community.
A few of these initiatives include:
- Safe Routes to School (SRTS) – At its heart, the SRTS program empowers communities to make walking and bicycling to school a safe and routine activity once again. PAT has been running the SRTS program locally for central Yavapai County since 2001. Through SRTS, we raise awareness about the need for safe and convenient routes to school. For the health of our children and for the financial savings to all, we consider this program a top priority.
- Bike Month – PAT’s annual event in celebration of National Bike Month brings bike fun and safety education to the community.
- Presentations – We happily give presentations to local clubs, schools and organizations. If you are interested in having a PAT representative speak at your meeting, contact us at pat@prescottbikeped.org.
